Open Data Institute Australian Network welcomes new Chief Executive Officer – Jamie Leach

Thprofile photo of Jamie Leach CEOe Open Data Institute Australian Network is extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie Leach as the institute’s new Chief Executive Officer.  The institute is primed for expansion and appointing a professional of Jamie’s caliber is essential to achieving the institute’s growth and development goals.

“The board and myself welcome Jamie to the position of Chief Executive Officer, Jamie’s background across the digital, finance, government and not for profit sectors are a mix that we highly value and require at such an integral time for the Institute.  Jamie’s appointment see’s the institute poised to begin its next step in delivering conduit services between government and industry as well as focusing on the opportunity that open banking provides.” said Linda O’Brien, Chair of the Open Data Institute’s Australian Network.

In addition to the Institute’s positioning to assist Government and Industry in working together to achieve collaborative open data outcomes.  The Institute continues to provide the core services of advocacy and training to ensure government and industry are equipped to innovate with data.

“I feel tremendously privileged to have been approached by the Board of the Institute to accept the position of Chief Executive Officer.  The success of the Institute to date in delivering the open data policy for the Queensland Government is one that I’ll take forward and build upon.” said Jamie Leach, “Our opportunity to assist in shaping open banking for Australia is a key priority as well as providing services to automatically scan and certify all government published data sets in the country.  This is in addition to the priorities of working closely with Local Government and the research sector in ensuring that the principles and standardisation of Open Data publishing are delivered on a national basis.” Jamie added.

Jamie commences as Chief Executive Officer on Monday 28 May after a handover from the outgoing Chief Executive, Scott Waters who has accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer of the City of Darwin Local Government in the Northern Territory.

“The board and I thank Scott for his contribution to the formation of strategic and operational planning of the Institute and his work with the Queensland Government, we wish him all the best for his new role in Local Government.” said Linda O’Brien, Chair of the Open Data Institute’s Australian Network.
