Assistant Director-General, Digital Productivity and Services, Department of Science Information Technology and Innovation Queensland Government
GWI (formerly Glentworth) was very proud to be one of the foundation sponsors of Open Data Institute Queensland (ODI Queensland), and excited to continue this journey with the ODI Australian Network. One of the high level goals of GWI is to “revolutionise the use of data to create value”. This is why we became, and remain, involved in the ODI movement. Since its creation, ODI Queensland has surpassed expectations in its ability to build understanding and energy around the open data movement – initially in Queensland, and more recently around Australia. It’s just great to be part of this.
Creating and sharing knowledge is all about data and information - its at the core of any university's mission. So for me, unlocking the power of data makes perfect sense. Open data plays a critical role in the democratization of knowledge and I am thrilled to be part of ODI - unlocking the power of data to create a better world.
As digital transformation changes the world we live in the ability to share and collaborate on data is critical for Australia to be a world leader in innovation, driving new business opportunities and economic growth on the world stage. ODI Australian Network’s efforts in promoting the publishing and consumption of open data is the foundation providing everyone with the right access and ability to make a positive impact in the world through data insights and intelligence.
Digital data is everywhere. Australian businesses, government organisations, and ordinary citizens are all generators, cultivators and users of data - but it is vital that we ensure its benefits are widely shared. Through its policy initiatives and training programs, the ODI Australian Network helps leverage the power of open data for a more creative, inclusive and fair digital economy.
